Leadership Opportunities

TURN is accepting applications for several Volunteer Leadership Positions within our organization. Leadership opportunities would require 5-15 hours of professional-level work per week, with a commitment to serve in this capacity with TURN for a minimum of one year.  TURN Leaders will work a portion of their hours at the TURN office each week, but much of the work can done from a home office.

Leadership Positions are the following:

Media and Communications Specialist

The Media and Communications Specialist would head up the development of our communication with our local churches, donors, and volunteers – sharing the message of what wonderful things God is doing in the city of Riverside.  This individual would have excellent written skills, the ability to learn simple website software, and an enjoyment of graphic design.  The Media and Communications Specialist would attend monthly TURN Pastors Meetings as well as special events on behalf of TURN to take photos, write stories and publish those on our website and in our newsletters. This position would contribute towards TURN’s quarterly Newsletters, Blog articles, Photo Articles, and TURN’s Facebook page, as well as assist with the development of future media for TURN, including: brochures, pamphlets, business cards, DVDs etc.

Community Outreach Coordinator  *POSITION FILLED*

The Community Outreach Coordinator would head up connecting families in need with in-kind donations TURN receives, specifically benefitting local foster children.  This position would require the ability to communicate well in person, on the phone and via email.  The Community Outreach Coordinator would have the opportunity to assist foster children in reunifying with their parents by ensuring they have the needed beds, refrigerators, clothes and diapers needed.  This individual would have the opportunity to meet with foster families and CPS social workers to hear where the church can be of the greatest help. The Community Outreach Coordinator would develop this initiative from the ground floor, engaging the help of additional churches and community groups to help as many foster families in Riverside as we can.

Operations and Development Specialist   *POSITION FILLED*

The Operations and Development Specialist would help TURN accomplish our mission of “connecting churches in loving our city” by strengthening our sustainability, organization, administration and infrastructure.  An individual with executive leadership and administration experience would be best qualified for this leadership opportunity.

Development Director

The Development Director would research, plan and follow-through with the application of Grants, Corporate partnerships, and special fundraising efforts.  The Development Director would attend Mission Increase workshops on behalf of TURN to learn more about Biblical donor discipleship. Part of this position would include recording data on a monthly basis: capturing volunteer activity, in-kind donations received, and outcomes of our current initiatives. The Development Director would head up the Spring Donor Drive, Golf Marathon, and TURN Banquet/Awards Dinner.  This position would also work to develop community partners and matching grants.

Special Events Coordinator

The Special Events Coordinator would work to plan ahead and gather the needed volunteer support and resources for TURN’s special events, including:  Riverside Minister’s Prayer Retreat (February), National Day of Prayer Breakfast (May), BLESS Riverside Prayer Service on Mt Rubidoux (September), 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting (Sept-Oct), All-Riverside Worship Celebration (November), Parents Night Out at Christmastime (December).  Plus, assist the Development Director in the planning of special donor development initiatives, including:  Spring Donor Drive (March), Golf Marathon (October), TURN Banquet (November).

Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator would assist with the recruiting, training and matching of volunteers (both individuals and small groups) to mentor and come alongside families experiencing difficult times (those who may be at-risk for becoming homeless and those coming out of the foster care system).  This position would also seek work to build relationships with community groups in order to incorporate talented volunteers into the TURN family (possibly partnering with Americorps, Senior Corps, Office on Aging, Cal Baptist Univerity, etc.)

Research Specialist   *POSITION FILLED*

The Research Specialist would study and compile best practices in outreach efforts, models in compassion ministry, community development initiatives, current trends in Foster Care, Homeless and Prayer collaboratives.  The Research Specialist would then report back to our Staff and Board of Directors with their findings, bringing information and insight into the future direction for TURN and our partners.

Prayer Coordinator  *POSITION FILLED*

The Prayer Coordinator would enjoy spending time in prayer for our City, helping to facilitate corporate prayer gatherings, leading the coming-together of various denominations in prayer, and keeping up-to-date with the specific prayer needs in our churches and city.  This individual would be able to teach on prayer and raise awareness for the need of prayer.  The Prayer Coordinator would make an effort to take part in the regional movement of God in Southern California and represent Riverside and TURN at those regional prayer gatherings.  This individual would attend Monthly Pastors Prayer and PrayRiverside prayer gatherings and report back to our staff and city significant findings.  The Prayer Coordinator would pray regularly for our local churches, pastors, TURN staff and families in our city.
